Aoba Johsai starts the match with Oikawa's serve, and the team is able to recognise that Karasuno have improved immensely as a team. Oikawa is proud of him (in a very Tsundere way) though. The bracket for the Interhigh is announced. The two first years use their usual quick strike and throw Date Tech off. Because of the time he put into his abilities, Oikawa was said to have been a highly skilled player by the time he began attending Kitagawa Daiichi. He is a famous volleyball player in the anime. When Hinata is jumping, no one is targeting him, and Watari gets a clear view of where he needs to be to dig, which leaves confusion, letting Oikawa pull a dump. As they continue to play against Date Tech, the Karasuno team struggles with trying new methods, facing Date Tech's improved blocking, and Kageyama's change in behavior. In the Manga Age Despite that, Karasuno ends up winning easily. As Karasuno appears to be winning, Kageyama reveals that he doesn't think Aoba Johsai's current setter is the official one. Oikawa is the best setter, with the best team. Dislikes Kageyama spies on Aoba Johsai and is astonished by Oikawa's skills as a setter. Later on, Hinata is used as a decoy, and Karasuno wins the rally. Oikawa doesn't show much interest in many of Karasuno's plays and only seems to become interested once Hinata and Kageyama start using their quick attack. As they leave, Daichi reveals that Karasuno also has a few surprises. IwaOi is the slash ship between Hajime Iwaizumi and Tru Oikawa from the Haikyu!! Occupation To match his ambition, Oikawa works extremely hard and often endures vigorous solo practices after his normal practices with the team. At his own training camp, Kageyama is enjoying playing with manyhighly skilled players but is showing signs of struggling from his confrontation with Atsumu. They practice against Fukurdani, and Hinata realises that Kageyama's tosses have changed so now the latter will have to work harder in order to hit them. Noticing that Kytani is agitated because of Tanaka, Oikawa decides to set to him in order for him to gain a point that he lost back, but ultimately, it goes out-of-bounds. When Iwaizumi, Kunimi, and Kytanis triple block fails, Oikawa attempts to dig Hinatas spike but fails, resulting in Aoba Johsais loss. When watching Karasunos match against Date Tech, Oikawa sees Hinata and Kageyamas quick set and expresses how annoying he finds geniuses. Keishin Ukai agrees to Karasuno's coach after he learns of the upcoming practice match, but only until the practice match is finished. While many fans believe that Oikawa suffered a knee injury prior to the practice match against Karasuno due to him wearing a white kneepad or a knee brace, it was never stated to be a knee injury. Seeing Ennoshita get subbed in for Daichi, Oikawa asks Iwaizumi about his performance during the practice game. Haiky!! At this, Karasuno, who is watching the match, finally notices that Aoba Johsai has the upper hand in the match. The anime series produced by Production I.G., was announced in the manga's eighth volume. Not long after, Oikawa admits to himself that Kageyama is a prodigy, but that he could also learn to use his other players and learn about them in order to score more points, and thats what he believes makes a good setter. Former Coach Ukai comes along to watch Karasuno play, and the general public comment on how much Karasuno has changed from the rumors. However, Hinata isn't discouraged and continues trying. However, Oikawa shows further concern when Koganegawa rotates back into the front row. The Fukurdani team hit a snag in their game when Bokuto falls into a depressed state and Akaashi does what he can to bring the ace back to top form. Nohebi is a team not afraid to use underhanded methods to gain an advantage. Nevertheless, that evening, Iwaizumi has a competition with Oikawa to determine who had the more right to be upset over their loss. It's the last set and Karasuno is in the lead. At this, Futakuchi gets on the defensive and tells Oikawa to disregard age and ranks as Date Techs only goal is to win. Despite being thoroughly crushed, Karasuno vows to get revenge on the national stage. Season one aired from April 6, 2014 to September 21, 2014 with a total of twenty-five episodes. After observing that scene several times, I manage to find out [through a timer, ofc] that it takes 0.27 seconds [27 milliseconds] for Oikawa's serve to reach the other end of the volleyball court. Oikawa then encounters Ushijima. Haikyuu fans are living their best lives right now, and it is all thanks to the anime. However, Oikawa began to struggle when his team began playing against Shiratorizawa Junior High and it was in particular playing against Ushijima that caused Oikawa distress and the start of his rivalry with the Shiratorizawa ace. As he feels the pressure of entering the last set as a starter, Kiyoko tries to calm him down. Despite the challenges, Hinata is still determined to find something at the camp that only he can do and to not underestimate what it means to be a ball boy. Hinata Shouyou and Oikawa Tooru were soulmates. Karasuno returns back to school to continue practising and honing in their skills, and other volleyball teams of Miyagi are busy practising for the Spring High Tournament. Oikawa then laughs when Ushijima boldly claims that whatever team hes on would make it the best. Date Tech and Karasuno battle it out in the second round, with neither side leading for long. After his final year, Oikawa goes on to join the Club Atltico San Juan in Argentina, where he became a citizen, and even played on the Argentian National Team for the 2021 Olympics against some familiar faces (some of whom he'd kept in touch with). Once Kytani is subbed back in after being subbed out to put himself together, Oikawa sets to him once more. He lied to everyone about everything, including his father, everything he thought he knew about . The end of the match completes Oikawa's character arc. Former Coach Ukai comes to watch the match, and Karasuno tries their best to work around the height advantage their opponent has . In Chapter 372, he tells Hinata that he wanted to train under Jos Blanco, his childhood hero/mentor, who was in Japan for a certain period of time before he went back to Argentina, so Oikawa decided to follow him there. It was seen post-timeskip that Oikawa has had thoughts of giving up on volleyball, but whenever that thought occurs, something really fun comes along to remind him why he loves it so much. Their match against each other leaves them both interested in their skills and sparks a rivalry. When all begins to seem hopeless, a miraculous play made by the last person they expected brings a new wave of hope. During the second set, Watari sets to Oikawa. Things get even worse when Oikawa figures out the secret signals Kageyama and Hinata use for their quick strike, and Kageyama begins to panic. Their ability to have improved so much in a week and catch up with their team in terms of points causes Bokuto to fall in a dejected mode. He obtained Argentinian citizenship and plays on the Argentina National team as the starting setter. They win the first set, but expect the next set to be harder because the Johzenji team takes many risks and are unpredictable. Despite not being considered a "genius" by mainly his coach and himself, Oikawa is a stunning player and one of the best all-around players in the prefecture. When the match points reach the 20s, Oikawa scores a service ace and completely changes the games atmosphere. Losing against Oikawa fired him so much, he volleyball'd all the way to Nationals, trompling over the biggest wall of Oikawa's career so far. Oikawa notices that Kytani is frustrated because he has just been used as a decoy, but Oikawa plans to himself to "sharpen Kytanis fangs". Oikawa then confronts Kageyama and quietly tells him not to take this victory to his head.
